Although I don't tow very often, I was wanting a little more on the low end to help turn these tires in stop and go driving and off-road. That is what I was thinking or at least hoping for. but had to sent it back again for same problem.

I would like to see SC program in some kind of an "AC cutoff at WOT" just in case some ricer decides to wanna play while I am cruising in the Florida Sun with the windows up and the AC on. FYI - I tried the different settings with my truck loaded down with about 400lbs of coolers and burners. I also noticed my gas guage get worked a bit more too. I am not positive on the differences but I have tried both settings and noticed what seemed like a bit more low-end torgue on the "Towing/Performance" program than I did with the "Performance Only" program. Hopefully this summer I will be doing the HO cams and somewhere down the road 4:10s

My only "performance" mods are a catback and CAI.

Got my tuner coming tuesday, tank is already full of 91 octane (highest I can get here) BTW I have a 01 cc 4x4 5-speed Rancho lifted on 285/75/16 MTs with stock 3:55 gears. I guess the 87 octane setting doesn't do much, except help milage a little bit. NO fast starts or stops with livestock on board.Anyone know exactly what the differences between the high octane performance setting and the high octane performance towing setting are. The 2 to 3k range is all that counts for that. I pull horse trailers and farm stuff with mine. The gains aren't as high done low as I remembered. Deer Ridge Farm and Saddlery, if you want to look it up. NO third cat-it came with the 3 cat set up.ĭeerridge is the name of my farm. From there it slopes off and after 5100rpm, the HP falls below 200, and falls steadily from there. Interestingly enough, the max HP was around 4300 rpm. w/o was 288.26, and the with was 300.47.įrom there, the torque curve slopes off like a beginner ski slope, then like intermediate, and at 5700rpm, that sucker is double diamond!! Then it climbs steeper so at 3grand, the w/o S/C's was 270ft/lbs, and the with S/C's was about 280ft/lbs.-at 3000rpm.įrom there, it climbs a little steeper, and maxes it's torque in a flat graph again, from 3500-3700. In this flat part of the curve, it was 258ft/lbs w/o S/C's The torque curve, is flat as a pancake from 2100(where it starts) to 2600-we're talking flat, and it added about 5ft/lbs here(2100-2600). This non SC's curve was on 87 octane, with about the same temp and humidity as the day I went back with the 93oct.-it's printed on the graphs. I hope it is a fair gain in low end, I need more Tq to pull my tires, and for hauling firewood and mulch, and the ocasional trailer.ĭeerridge,-care to explain that screen name.Īnyways-The torque curve, you have to remember, that I put down 219hp, and 288ft/lbs RW without any tuner. That's what I always look for for towing and hauling. Hey Todd, I wanted to know what the torque gain was on the Super Chips tuner in 2000 to 3500 RPM range. I am glad that the 4.7 is a tough motor, I just had a Tune up as well, it runs better than before, so I hope to see fair gains from the Tuner (either the ping, or I need to change my Header Gaskets, because of a leak)Īlso I heard that if you run it hard everynow and then it is better than babying it, then hitting it hard, because it cleans the carbon out. I have had the truck for about a year and a half, and it has 80,000 miles on it, I hit it hard about once a week, maybe twice, and it still runs good, it only pings when I accelerate a little, So I guess if you are at the strip, when you shift is a big factor, Because there is that little gap in the engine, shift too soon, you are screwed, shift too late the same, it just has to be right I maxed out in 2nd gear at 5,000 rpms, barked the tires hitting third, and I noticed it didn't Jump and take off as much as it did when I shifted at 4,500, or 4,800, Yea, Todd, I experiemented with it on the interstate, upon entrance, The Jet Phase 1 modual for the 4.7L is junk u need to send in for a PCM flash thats what I have done Subject: RE: SuperChips, Worth it? any gains?
